Say exactly what applies

"No parking" is good. "Fire lane, no parking" is better because everyone understands why. With your own text you explain the reason, name times ("Mon to Fri 7 am to 6 pm") or put the wording of your ban on the sign.

The court ban

As the owner of the property (or holder of another real right in it) you can apply to the court for a general ban (Art. 258 Swiss Civil Procedure Code). Anyone ignoring it can be fined up to CHF 2000 on complaint. The court requires the ban to be posted visibly on the property (Art. 259). This sign is made for exactly that: the symbol on the left, the text of the order on the right.

Good to know

With a threatened fine, the sign is only valid together with a court order. Copy the text word for word from your order, with court, date and fine. We print what you enter and don't check the order. Long orders need space: from three lines we recommend 600 × 160 mm. Made for private ground: on public roads and on private areas open to public traffic, the authorities decide on the signs.

Frequently asked questions

Is a no parking sign on private ground legally binding?

A sign on its own is a notice. It becomes binding, with fines, through a general court ban under Art. 258 of the Swiss Civil Procedure Code, which you apply for at the competent court. The ban must be posted visibly on the property.

How much text fits on the sign?

At 300 × 80 mm one or two short lines. For the wording of a court ban choose 600 × 160 mm.
